Scrummy Scrum
So, I can’t seem to help myself.  What’s the old saying?  “If all you have is a hammer, everything becomes a nail?” As much as I’m reluctant to admit it, I’m finding more possible applications for Scrum internally than ever.  MarCom?  Should be Scrum.  Contract review?  Scrum. Now that I’ve got two teams going, it’s very interesting to compare and...

Wendy Wins...
While I was crashed and sleeping on the couch, Wendy was kind enough to pick up one of the coffee makers from Woot! that I bought for the office, then had to leave at home. Sweet espresso and coffee goodness, you will soon be mine at home and work.

– HYPOCRISY: BOOING BONDS AS MOTA RETURNS By MIKE VACCARO Well, as much as I would like to get on my baseball high-horse and say “But, Mota’s different,” the clubhouse abuse of steroids forces all Mets fans to temper their contempt for Barry Steroid, unless they’re willing to...

– MySpace v. Facebook: “It’s Not A Decision. It’s an IQ Test” Interesting quote about the amount of money thrown at the web widget ‘companies’ out there. Seeing a lot of these - ChipIn and SixDegrees are two highly-visible widgets in the NPO donation sector, and SalesForce’s...

Memorial Day
The day when the kids are off, and you build up anticipation for everyone to go to the pool and have a good time after lunch, only to discover that there’s a stupid birthday party from 1p - 3p. Sorry, girls. We’ll go swimming @ 3:00. I promise.

“I’m sorry. I didn’t realize I was speaking to the Judd Apatow.”
– Steve Martin quote from a NYTimes Story on Judd Apatow. Apatow, if you don’t know, is the guy behind the ill-fated “Freaks and Geeks”, as well as a few movies (“Anchorman”, “Talladega Nights”) whose new movie with Paul Rudd looks good (“Knocked...

Michael Isikoff and Evan Thomas pen an excellent article tying together the loose ends surrounding Attorneygate and all the mess with Monica Goodling, Gonzo and the near-dictatorial powers that Bush weilds over the DOJ.

MLB Recap: Mets @ Marlins →
Not only did the Mets get the win behind a strong outing from John Maine, but Delgado is finally picking back up and hitting the ball.  This bodes will for my Mets, and for my ESPN Fantasy Baseball team.

MX Revolution
Got a new mouse this weekend, the Logitech MX Revolution. It’s super-nice. Easily the best mouse I’ve owned. Only downside is that there’s no way to store the little USB dongle dooder so that I won’t lose it. I forsee this happening sooner, rather than later. I’ll have to be vigilant, because it’s worth it. The spiff click wheel to free-spinning scroller...

Switching Over...
So, I’m switching over the brazism domains to Tumblr. Let’s see if I can keep this up while Kris is out of town, and the girls are so needy. It’ll be nice if Sarah can actually get to sleep tonight before 10:00, without more crying. It’ll be even nicer to have Mommy home.

You have to give a crap about Lost to care what and why, and there are spoilers in the title of the friggin’ article in case you haven’t seen the Season 3 finale. At least there’s Doctor Who to hold me over until February.

Bob Cringely, still a fun read, discusses the possibility that the next Google-killer will come from within Google itself. I don’t know if I’m buying it; Google’s stealing Microsofties left and right, but the core idea came from Stanford.  Isn’t that where most of the ideas are still coming from?

Yeah, I reblogged that video from metafilter and a bunch of others.  It made me a little happy. Adding that video was disgustingly simple.  I’m liking Tumblr more and more.

Project Agape
So, the Facebook guys are looking to do ‘viral altruism’, whatever that means, with Project Agape. The .com surprises me, and makes me wonder if they’re going to go the change.org route and establish themselves as a mission-driven company instead of as a real 501(c)3.  That seems to be the hip thing to do right now - start up as a mission-driven company so that you can get bought...

MySQL
Looking over the things I’ve added to my Safari list recently, I’m surprised just how many of them are MySQL-related. It’s a neat idea, and the thought of spending a significant amount of money next year to upgrade to SQL 2005 Enterprise - three active, production SQL clusters, at least seven instances, each running quad-processors. That’s a quarter-million dollars. MySQL...

Last.fm Feed sucks
If I could figure out how to have it display somewhere else instead of as entries on the main page, it’d be much nicer. A sidebar thingy would be great, thankyouverymuch.  Methinks I’ll need to customize my display soonish to add that.

Airlines are dumb
Okay, I guess it’s all to make sure that we’re not purchasing tickets for terrorists. I purchased a return ticket for Grandpa to come back from the funeral.  I applied his old e-ticket from the canceled return trip, and paid the remainder on my credit card.  After going through the purchase process, the little notice with my receipt says that Grandpa will need to show a picture ID and...

Just finished mowing the in-laws' yard
Part of me is looking forward to having a yard to mow.  It’s very cathartic, and the progress is visible and visceral. Part of me is most definitely not.  That’s the part that has the headache right now. Talked to Dad yesterday, and they’re too pooped to have us come visit this weekend, which is understandable.  They just got back from Bike Week, and he’s got a pile of...

What makes me think this'll take?
Okay, so maybe it’ll help that I can post from my BlackBerry.  Like twitter, but with more text. ::shrug::  We’ll see.  I like the idea, and if I had a cameraphone, it’d probably be neater.  I’ll see how many pictures I put up, but with the camera in a bag, packed away pre-move… We’ll see.
